    • Edmund Walker was born about 1770 to Dr. John and Mary Ann (Winston) Walker in King and Queen County, Virginia.
      He married Elizabeth Armistead November 22, 1804 in Campbell County, Virginia, where he was recorded in the 1820 and 1830 censuses. They had 4 children: Sarah Frances, born 1807, married Samuel Jordan December 10, 1827, had 10 children, died in December, 1865, in Macon County, Alabama; Benjamin Winston, married Mary Eugene Watson, moved to Macon County, Alabama, served one term in state legislature in 1858, later moved to Tennessee; Elizabeth, born about 1810, married William P. Nash June 18, 1832, in Campbell County, Virginia; Robert Armstead Walker, born April 28, 1817, married Julia Frances Blair February 16, 1864, teaching school in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, in 1870 and 1880 censuses, 5 children.
      Edmund Walker first appeared in Campbell County personal property tax lists in 1814 without taxable property, and in land tax lists in 1822 with 106 acres which he continued to hold until his death in 1837/38, aged about 67. In 1837, his personal property tax was based on 8 slaves and 2 horses. His estate was appraised in January, 1840, with $2,540 in slaves plus small items.
