    • Martha (”Patsy”) Winston Dabney was born to Cornelius and Elizabeth Smith (Winston) Dabney November 6, 1794, in Louisa County, Virginia.
      She married Rev. Thomas Cooper, a Methodist minister, February 15, 1820 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, as his second wife. He was born in 1780 to John and Elizabeth (Padgett) Cooper in Davidson County, North Carolina. They had four children: Eliza C., born July 21, 1821, married James Clouse; Alexander, born 1823, married Angelina Hattie Moore November 11, 1845; Sarah Ann Norman, born April 30, 1826, married Richard Goins; and Thomas Dabney, born 1829/30, married Sarah Caroline Wommack in Clemmonsville, North Carolina, 4 March 1856.
      Thomas’s first wife was Sarah Ellis Norment, whom he married January 4, 1816 in Caroline County, Virginia. She was born in 1791 in Caroline County and died 13 May 1817. She was buried at Thos. Cooper’s home place at Clemmonsville (later Clemmons), Davidson County, North Carolina. Their only child was William White Cooper, born 1817 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC, in an area split off in 1822 to form Davidson County.
      In the 1820 census, Thomas Cooper, aged 26-45 was living with a female 16-26 and a male child 0-10 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC. Thomas died October 4, 1829 in Clemmonsville (later Clemmons),
      Davidson County (later Forsyth County). In the 1830 census, Martha was listed in Davidson County with 5 children. Her mother, Elizabeth (Smith) Winston Dabney was still living with her son Cornelius in Louisa County in 1830.
      When Martha’s brother, Cornelius, decided to sell his farm in Louisa County, Virginia, and move to Kentucky in 1831, her mother moved to North Carolina to to live with Martha. Martha remarried to George Moyer in August 1837 and died in September, 1838. Elizabeth Dabney’s son, Albert G. Dabney traveled to North Carolina and took his mother to Kentucky, where she died in Hickman County January 11, 1840. [1, 2, 3, 4]
